Conor Breheny
Snare Drum
Conor began learning the snare drum at age 9 when he commenced at Trinity College, East Perth. He progressed to become Drum Sergeant of the Trinity College Pipes & Drums for the last three years of high school. After graduating in 2004, Conor returned to Trinity in 2005 to take up employment as the band's drum tutor. Also, in 2003 he was one of the founding members of the Shadow Highlanders, a local pipe band aimed at fostering the progression of young players in WA. He has held many positions there including leading drummer and drumming tutor.
Conor joined WAPOL in 2008 as a guest player, and commenced full time work with the band in January 2009. He has participated in all major engagements that WAPOL has performed at since then and is a keen contributor to the composition of drum scores that the band plays in both concerts and competitions.
Since joining WAPOL, Conor has also competed on a regular basis in Grade One with the Pipeband Club, Sydney. He has competed in a number of contests including Square Day, NZ and the World Pipe Band Championships, Glasgow, Scotland.
In 2012 Conor stepped down from his full time position in the band to take up work as a solicitor, but continues to play with WAPOL as a guest player.
