Adam Britton
Pipes
Adam began his piping career with the Broken Hill Pipe
Band, a Grade 4 band in regional New South Wales, in 1988
until 1995 when he started playing with the City of Adelaide
Pipe Band, a Grade 1 band in South Australia. He remained
with that band until 2001 during which time they achieved
1st place in the Australian Pipe Band Championships in 1998
(Grade 1) and 2nd place 2000.
In 2001 Adam commenced full time employment with the Queensland
Police Pipes and Drums and also played as a guest player with
Nunawading Pipe Band (Victoria) from 2001 to 2004 placing
in the New Zealand and Australian Championships in 2003 and
2004 respectively, the Manawatu Scottish Society Pipe Band
(New Zealand) from 2003 to 2007 claiming one New Zealand Championship
and three successful World Championship campaigns, and in
2004 with WAPOL during its World Championships campaign. It
was at this time Adam became an employed full time band officer
with WAPOL.
During Adam's piping career he has enjoyed considerable success
in solo competition including first and second places at the
Malaysia Airline Piping Finals in Brisbane leading to the
McAllan Trophy in Lorient, France in 2003 and 2004 as part
of the Festival Interceltique.
Adam also won the Silver Medal Piobaireachd at the R.U. Brown
Piobaireachd Society Contest in 2005, in addition to minor
placings between 1997 and 2009 and has been a regular recitalist
at this competition as well.
