Pipe Major
Paul started his piping career with the Royal Air Force
at the age of Nine were he was taught by his father Ian (Huggy).
He then went on to play for Lothian & Borders Police and
The Vale of Atholl before coming to Australia where he played
for the Band Club, Sydney. He has just recently joined the
ranks of Manawatu from New Zealand and looking forward to
playing in the 2009 worlds.
In 1999 Paul was awarded a bursary which enabled him to enroll
on a three year course at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow,
under the tuition of the late Pipe Major Angus MacDonald,
Pipe Major Roddy Macleod and Pipe Major Colin MacLellan. During
his three years at the Centre he was also tutored and advised
by pipers of distinction such as Greg Wilson, William Morrison
and Dougie Pincock.
Paul is proud to hold the position of Pipe Major of the Western
Australia Police Pipe Band, a rank which he gained in 2008.
